Will a power station run it?
One appliance, one power station: we check the voltage, the running watts and the start-up surge before we give you a runtime.

The formula
Runtime (hours) = capacity (Wh) × 0.88 ÷ average draw (W). The 0.88 is the inverter: turning the battery's DC into 120 V AC loses roughly 10 to 15 percent, more at very light loads. Average draw is not the label wattage for anything that cycles: a fridge compressor runs about a third of the time, a sump pump only when water comes in.
Before runtime, a station has to pass two power tests. Its continuous output must cover the appliance's running watts, and its surge rating must cover the start-up kick of any motor. Where a maker doesn't publish a surge figure, we assume none beyond the continuous output rather than guess.
Questions people ask
How long will a power station run an appliance?
Runtime ≈ capacity (Wh) × 0.88 ÷ the appliance's average draw (W). The 0.88 covers inverter losses. A 1,070 Wh station running a 120 W TV lasts about 7.8 hours; running an ENERGY STAR fridge (about 44 W on average) it lasts about 21 hours.
Why does it say no when the battery is big enough?
Because capacity isn't the only test. A station also has to deliver the appliance's running watts and its start-up surge, and some appliances need 240 V. A 5 kWh battery with a 1,800 W inverter still can't run a 3,250 W window AC.
